Food, shelter grants available for agencies
Hampton and Newport News received more than $95,000.00 collectively from the Emergency Food and Shelter Program to provide assistance to individuals.
Newport News received $58,536.00 and Hampton received $40,891.00.
Agencies interested in applying for assistance should have a substantial presence in cities and be private voluntary non-profits or units of government.
They must also have an accounting system, practice nondiscrimination, have demonstrated the capability to deliver emergency food and/or shelter programs, and have a voluntary board if they are private voluntary organizations.
