THE UNITED WAY COMMUNITY CAMPAIGN
Each year United Way of the Virginia Peninsula partners with local businesses, municipalities, individuals, and other non-profits in a community-wide fundraising campaign. The resources raised are used to fund local agency programs that address critical needs in the community. The annual campaign affords employees in the workplace the opportunity to "give back" to their communities through the convenience of payroll deduction--allowing thousands of people to give a bit more than they might normally be able to offer.
More than 300 local businesses with employee numbers of 10 to 20,000 conduct United Way workplace campaigns each year and many of these organizations also offer corporate support. Additionally, students in our public schools take part in the “United Way@School“ campaign, which allows students to learn about and contribute to community programs.
