Local programs offer FREE home weatherization for qualified individuals and families

Who Offers This Program

The home weatherization program is offered to qualified lower-income Hampton city residents by the Office of Human Affairs. 

In Newport News, Poquoson, Williamsburg, James City and York counties, the program is offered to qualified lower-income residents by the Williamsburg James City County Community Action Agency.

Free
The home weatherization programs are free to qualified applicants that meet income eligibility requirements.  

Your Savings
Home weatherization can give you significant savings in heating and cooling costs throughout the year.  Some residents have experienced a 50% decrease in energy costs following weatherization improvements.

Weatherization Services
Some of the services perfomed may include:

Attic and wall insulation
Wrapping of hot water tanks and water pipes
Installation of smoke/fire/carbon monoxide detectors
Glass and outside door replacement
Inspection of heating and cooling equipment
Installation of plastic under the home
Blower Door testing to determine caulking and sealing efficiency
