You may be eligible for FREE tax preparation assistance.

Local Volunteers Are Here to Help

Through the F.A.C.E.S. Coalition (Families Achieving Community Economic Stability), local volunteers provide free tax assistance to eligible limited income residents of Newport News, Hampton, and York County.

Eligibility
If you worked during 2009 and made less than $49,000, you are eligible for this free tax assistance program.

You May Even Receive A Refund Through the EITC
The Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC) is a special credit for lower income workers that reduces federal income tax. Those who qualify owe less in taxes and may even be eligible for a bigger refund.  Even if you don’t owe any income tax, you may still be eligible for the EITC if you worked during 2009 and made less than $49,000.

Tax Preparation Sites
A number of tax preparation sites are staffed by volunteers and conveniently located throughout our local area.  Click here for the site nearest you.

The Community Partners of F.A.C.E.S.
